Healthiest Energy Drinks of 2024
ARE ENERGY DRINKS HEALTHY?
Energy Drinks themselves aren't inherently healthy or unhealthy, the Food and Drug Administration, as well as the Mayo Clinic state it's fine and safe to drink up to 400mg of caffeine per day, once you begin to get upwards of 1,000mg of caffeine per day you may experience nervousness, jitters, and anxiety. Most energy drinks on the market today are anywhere from 100mg of caffeine on the low end, to 300mg of caffeine on the high end with Energy Drinks like Bang and RAZE among others, so well under the daily limit of caffeine that's recommended. Where energy drinks could be considered "unhealthy" which is a fairly subjective term, is when they have high levels of sugar, use chemical artificial sweeteners, or use artificial colors or preservatives. Many energy drinks these days are starting to reign the caffeine back in opting for 180mg to 200mg of caffeine as opposed to 300mg, and many energy drinks are adding ingredients like electrolytes, amino acids, choline and other nootropics, and in the case of Odyssey Mushroom Energy Drinks, mushrooms like Lion's Mane, Cordyceps and others. We've selected our Top Healthiest Energy Drinks of 2022 based on reasonable caffeine levels, more natural ingredients, low or no sugar, and the addition of special ingredients like nootropics or mushrooms.
3 HEALTHIEST ENERGY DRINKS OF 2022
So one of my personal favorite energy drinks of this past year are Odyssey Elixir Energy Drinks which are energy drinks infused with mushrooms. While my personal favorite variety of Odyssey Drinks are the Oat Milk Coffee Drinks, I and others would consider this a coffee drink and no an energy drink so we're going to focus on the brands Odyssey Mushroom Elixir Sparkling Beverages which come in a variety of flavors Passionfruit Orange Guava, Blackberry Lemon Twist, Orange Ginger, and Dragonfruit Lemonade. One thing I really like about this drink is it uses Natural Caffeine from Green Tea as opposed to artificial caffeine anhydrous which to me provides a smoother cleaner energy, they also use Monk Fruit as the sweetener and each can contains 1250mg of Lions Mane, 1250mg of Cordyceps and 85mg of natural caffeine which is right in line with a cup of coffee.
Sway is another pick for one of the 3 healthiest energy drinks of 2024, Sway markets itself as "The World's First Vitamin Focused Energy Drink". Sway packs in a bit more energy than Odyssey with Sway containing 160mg of Natural Caffeine from Green Tea, this comes in at just under 2 cups of coffee, and with the caffeine being natural caffeine it provides clean energy. They've also thrown in 10mg of Ashwagandha Root to help mellow out the caffeine and lower cortisol levels. Sway has 100% of your daily value of vitamins for Vitamins A, B6, B12, as well as Vitamins C and D and it contains just 5 calories, 0 grams of sugar and no artificial colors or fruit flavoring. Sway is not overly sweet or syrupy like most energy drinks, it packs more flavor than a sparkling water but isn't as sweet as your typical energy drink. Sway comes in a variety of tasty and unique flavor options including Mango, Passion Fruit, Watermelon, Lemon Lime, Orange, and Cherry.
True North Energy Drinks are the one energy drink in this showdown that we don't carry here at Best Price Nutrition. I actually discovered this sparkling seltzer energy drink earlier this spring and it quickly became a favorite of mine. True North Pure Sparkling Seltzer comes in six tasty flavors including Cucumber Lime, Mandarin Yuzu, Watermelon Mist, Grapefruit Lemonade, White Peach Pear, and Black Cherry, with my personal favorite being the Grapefruit Lemonade. True North is quite simply a caffeinated sparkling water, however unlike brands like Aha and others sold at Target and the grocery store which only contain around 30mg of caffeine, True North Energy Drinks pack a respectable 120mg of caffeine which is about 20% more than your standard diner sized cup of coffee. True North contains zero sugar as well as no artificial sweetener, artificial flavors or artificial colors and it's a zero calorie drink.
