10 Fat Burning Foods to Boost Your Weight Loss

5 Foods That Help Your Body Burn Fat

One of the hottest selling categories of supplements on our website, and in the supplement industry as a whole is Fat Burners and Thermogenic Supplements. Supplements that help raise metabolism, promote fat burning, provide users with more energy, and that help suppress appetites and cravings. But what if the foods you ate also played a role in your metabolism, energy levels, and how much food you eat? It turns out they do! In this post we're going to be sharing with you 10 real whole foods you can eat that will help your body burn fat.

1. Coffee

Let's start with something many of you probably already use to kickstart your day, coffee. Coffee is a great source of caffeine, and caffeine is a popular ingredient in fat burning supplements as it helps provide users with more energy, enhances mood, and can help improve both physical and mental performance. The benefits of coffee however don't stop there, coffee can also help you burn fat. A smaller study had found that those who took caffeine prior to excercise burned almost twice as much fat, and were able to excercise almost 20% longer than the group who didn't take caffeine prior to working out. Studies have shown that caffeine can increase metabolic rate anywhere from 3% to 13% depending upon the amount consumed. If you're looking to start your day with a fat burning food consider coffee, or for those of you who are tea people, consider starting your day with a caffeinated black tea.

2.Eggs

Well, we talked about starting your day with coffee in the above paragraph, and what goes great with coffee, eggs for breakfast. Eggs are packed with nutrition. In addition to promoting heart health, eggs are a fantastic food for weight loss, studies have shown that eggs for breakfast can help reduce hunger and keep you feeling full for hours. A recent study found that those who ate eggs for breakfast consumed 400 fewer calories per day than the group who didn't eat eggs for breakfast, and they also had a 16% greater reduction in body fat as opposed to the group who had a bagel for breakfast. Eggs are high in protein, help reduce hunger, increase fullness, and boost fat burning in the body, making eggs a great breakfast food to start your day with for those looking to burn fat.

3. Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil has surged in popularity in recent years and with good reason. Not only is coconut oil healthy for the heart, it also can be helpful in trying to lose weight. In one particular study me who added 2 tablespoons of coconut oil to their daily diet lost an average of one inch around their waste without making any other changes to their diet or physical activity. Coconut Oil is rich in MCT's which have been known to help suppress appetite as well as help with fat burning. Don't overdo it with the coconut oil however as it can cause digestive discomfort if you take too much.

4. Green Tea

We mentioned coffee as a fat burning food, but if coffee isn't your "cup of tea" try green tea. Green Tea has been studied and shown to help reduce heart disease and it may even help protect against certain types of cancer. In addition to those benefits however its rich in EGCG which is an antioxidant which promotes fat burning, especially belly fat. It appears green teas fat burning ability does vary from person to person so results may vary.

5. Whey Protein

Whey Protein is one of the most popular supplements, or I suppose we could call it a food for the sake of this post, on our site. Whey Protein has been shown to promote muscle growth and muscle repair when combined with resistance training. In addition to just helping your muscles however, whey protein has been shown to be effective at suppressing appetite, more so even than other forms of protein. Whey Protein stimulates the release of fullness hormones like PYY and GLP-1. I've noticed this personally as well, if I'm feeling cravings during the day I'll oftentimes have a protein shake and my hunger and cravings quickly dissipate the majority of the time. One particular study had men drink protein shakes and found that it significantly lowered the hunger levels and these men wound up eating fewer calories. Whey Protein also appears to boost fat burning and promote weight loss in lean people as well as those who are overweight, in one particular study whey protein was found to increase metabolic rate and fat burning at greater levels than casein or soy protein. If you're in the market for whey protein feel free to browse our huge selection of protein powders and RTD protein drinks.
