Can Pregnant Women Take Pre-Workout Supplements?
One of the most common questions we get asked is "Can Pregnant Women Take Pre-Workout Supplements?" So in today's post we're going to be answering that question.
Well, the answer to that question is; it depends on who you ask.
Different women have different risk tolerances, and different women treat their pregnancies differently. According to experts, it's generally safe for pregnant women to consume up to 300mg of caffeine per day. Studies have also shown that moderate caffeine levels, which are defined as being between 150mg and 300mg per day do not negatively affect pregnancy.
That said, the American Pregnancy Association however suggests pregnant women avoid caffeine as much as possible during pregnancy, as well as while breastfeeding. Consult with your physician and decide the direction you want to go.
While caffeine seems to be the main ingredient that is contentious when it comes to the safety of Pre-Workouts for pregnant women, many pre-workout supplements contain unknown ingredients, as well as artificial sweeteners and dyes some women would prefer to avoid. Even if you find a Naturally Flavored Pre-Workout supplement or feel like you know the ingredients in you're familiar with all the ingredients in your pre-workout supplmeent, it's still best to consult with your doctor.
