The Sleep Supplement Showdown

Recent studies have shown that insomnia is incredibly widespread. Depending on the study and the data you're examining, some say it's 10% to 30% of people struggle with insomnia, while other studies put the number as high as even 50% to 60% of adults who struggle with insomnia. Whichever number is correct, it highlights the fact that many of us struggle to wind down at the end of the day and struggle to both fall asleep and stay asleep.

Because of this sleep supplements have gotten incredibly popular in recent years. Two of our best selling sleep supplements and two of my personal favorites are Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals Somatomax and Blackstone Labs Anesthetized. In today's post we're going to look at both these supplements and the formula behind them. We're bringing you The Ultimate Sleep Supplement Showdown!

Somatomax Vs. Anesthtized Formulas

So let's take a look at the formulas behind Somatomax and Anesthetized. The first thing we notice is that Somatomax contains a proprietary blend, where as Anesthetized contains a fully transparent label meaning we know the exact dosages of everything contained within the formula, where as with Somatomax we just know that the blend of the ingredients is a total of 14 grams. That's not inherently good or bad, nor does it mean that one is better than the other, though some people prefer their supplements to have transparent labels.

Diving into the actual ingredients both contain Phenibut, Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid, Tyrosine and Mucuna Pruriens. Where these formulas differ is Anesthetized also contains Valerian Root and Taurine where as Somatomax contains Arginine and Phenylalanine. While Phenibut is a main ingredient in both of these formulas, we would guess the dosage is a bit higher and that it's more prominent in Somatomax as it's the first ingredient listed as part of the 14 gram blend.

Somatomax & Anesthetized Reviews

Having tried both of these supplements I figured I'd try to breakdown the supplement and compare the effects and quality of sleep they give. For starters Somatomax gives you 20 servings, where as Anesthetized gives 25 servings but costs slightly more so from a price standpoint they're about equal. One other thing to mention, myself and most others I know who use either of these supplements don't find the need to take a full serving so you can likely stretch this to 40-50 servings no problem.

In terms of flavors and flavor options Anesthetized comes in two flavors including Pineapple Sweet Dreamz and Chocolate, where as Somatomax comes in six flavors ranging from Lemon Drop to Berry Banana, Rocket Pop, Snowcone, and more. While these supplements don't taste bad they're also not something your'e drinking for the flavor, due to the dosage and combination of ingredients they slightly bitter.

In terms of effects both of these are fantastic options for anyone who struggles falling asleep, staying asleep, or just relaxing, winding down, and turning their mind off at the end of the day.

While you can't go wrong with either Somatomax or Anesthetized I personally have found that Somatomax seems to kick in faster and does a slightly better job of putting me to sleep and keeping me sleeping through the night. I will say however that this does come at a slight trade off as I also find if I take too much I'll wake up still sleepy or even a bit groggy.

As with most supplements, everybody's body reacts differently and even among similarly formulated supplements people will often prefer one over another. While I'm going to give the slight edge to Somatomax, you really can't go wrong with either of these options.
