SunWarrior Warrior Blend Protein Review

SunWarrior Warrior Blend Protein Review

SunWarrior is a supplement brand who's always had a strong and loyal following, but one which has been growing in popularity in recent years. While SunWarrior carries an array of popular supplements in many categories, the brand is particularly known for their plant based protein powders with one of their most popular products and possibly their flagship supplement being the SunWarrior Warrior Protein Blend.

Now typically when it comes to protein powders people fall squarely into one of two camps, plant based or animal based proteins, SunWarrior's Warrior Blend Protein however is one which is not only popular among vegans and vegetarians, but one which even non vegans and vegetarians seem to enjoy and use.

SunWarrior Warrior Blend Protein is a high performance protein powder which features a Warrior Protein Blend which is a mix of fermented yellow peas to promote lean muscle mass, goji berries which are a superfood which contains the full spectrum of amino acids hemp seed which contains protein as well as being rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids and vitamins and minerals, it's also very easy to digest and is quickly absorbed by the body, and lastly coconut which contains fatty acids which your body can burn as energy while training as opposed to storing it as fat, they also help to boost immune health and enhance muscle recovery after tough workouts. Warrior Protein is soy free and gluten free, has no added sugar, is dairy free, and is completely plant based so it's vegan and vegetarian friendly.

SUNWARRIOR WARRIOR BLEND PROTEIN REVIEW & TASTE TEST

So a buddy of mine has been using SunWarrior's Warrior Blend Protein for years and is always raving about it. Not sure why it took me so long to steal a scoop off of him, but I recently grabbed a scoop from him in both the Chocolate and Vanilla flavors. I've tried a number of plant based protein powders over the years from cheaper ones like Orgain Plant Based Protein from Costco which I normally mix into smoothies as the taste and texture isn't the best, to more recognized brands like NutraBio, Nutrex and others, and while some plant based proteins are definitely better than others, they all leave something to be desired both in terms of taste and texture in my experience, I have to say however I was pleasantly surprised by SunWarrior.

So for starters let's look at the supplement facts panel and ingredients. Typically plant based protein powders will not only contain less protein than their animal based counterparts, but they typically don't contain a full spectrum of amino acids. SunWarrior contains 18 grams of protein which falls a little short of the 20-30 grams of protein in most whey proteins, but it's comes close at 18 grams, and due to the proprietary protein blend which features pea protein, hemp protein and goji berries, you actually do get a full spectrum of amino acids which is a good thing. Warrior Blend also comes in pretty lean with a single scoop containing just 100 calories for 18 grams of protein with no added sugars.

As far as the taste and texture go, while I've yet to find a plant protein that had what I would describe as a creamy texture, some are better than others, and SunWarrior's Warrior Blend is as good as it gets in my experience, the shake was surprisingly smooth, assuming that has something to do with the coconut and MCT's, and it's a fairly thick shake which is something I like in a protein shake. The taste of both the chocolate and vanilla flavors was not only a very strong flavor, it was actually much sweeter than I expected which is pretty impressive considering this protein powder has 0 grams of sugar, it's sweetened with stevia, there's a very slight stevia taste on the finish, but only if you really focus on it.

Overall SunWarrior's Warrior Blend Protein is right up there with the best plant based protein powders I've tried in every way from the ingredients and supplement facts, to the taste, and even the texture. I'd even go as far as to say those who typically take a whey or plant based protein powder may be interested in switching over to this product. SunWarrior comes in 6 flavor options including the Chocolate and Vanilla which I tried for this review, as well as Mocha, Berry, and Maple French Toast, and of course an unflavored option for those who prefer mixing their protein in with a smoothie. If you're a vegan or vegetarian who's unhappy with the protein your currently taking, or even someone who typically takes a whey protein but is looking to try a plant based option either for environmental or health reasons, I'd definitely recommend giving it a try!
