Ghost Sour Patch Kids Blue Raspberry Energy Drink Review

Video Transcription:

John:
Hey, what's going on, guys? You guys have tuned into the Best Price Nutrition YouTube channel. I'm John. I got Brad here with me today, and we've been waiting on this video for months.

Brad:
Yeah. Yeah.

John:
We got in the, I guess it's not necessarily new, but it's new to us, the GHOST Blue Raspberry Sour Patch Kids energy drink. We've had the red one in for a while, it's been a favorite around here at the office. Also, a favorite amongst our customers tastes amazing. I really liked that a lot of these supplement brands are starting to partner with mainstream food companies, and we're actually getting the real candy flavors.

Brad:
It's not like the Thoth main. [crosstalk 00:00:36].

John:
Exactly. Yeah, and there's some exciting ones coming out from a lot of brands. And I think GHOST has another, either grape or strawberry Bubblicious partnership coming out, so I'm excited to try that one.

Brad:
Yeah. And pretty much I hadn't had many GHOST products, but what I heard from their proteins and everything because they partnered with the Nabisco, I think, and they got all the cookies and all those flavors. Apparently, they're incredible, now beyond even just what GHOST says. All of the reviews are really, really good, and we have seen that with this. What are the other flavors we have?

John:
Are we still carrying Rise?

Brad:
Kind of, sort of.

John:
[crosstalk 00:01:10] They're tough to get in. Rise is actually doing a bunch of, I forget the...

Brad:
I just saw this... [crosstalk 00:01:15].

John:
On big mainstream candy or snack brands that they're partnering with here in the future.

Brad:
Yeah. And it must be pretty lucrative for both companies to do that, so it's kind of exciting to see that happening more and more often.

John:
So for anyone who is not familiar GHOST, what do we got? How does this stack up against some of the other energy drinks in terms of caffeine or CPAs, nootropics?

Brad:
So I guess the gold standard is kind of Bang energy drink, that's what everyone knows, it's super popular. Bang energy, I think has some amino acids in there, and then it's 300 milligrams of caffeine, and that's pretty much it, as far as I know, maybe like the creatine or whatever, but it's probably not in there in any noticeable amount. This has karnapure, which is L-carnitine L-tarate, at one gram, it's got a gram of taurine, 200 milligrams of natural caffeine, 150 milligrams of alpha GPC, which is nootropic, it's really good for focus. You've got neuro factor, which is coffee fruit extract, 100 milligrams. Then you have astrogen at 25 milligrams, which is like an absorption thing. So you've got 200 milligrams of natural caffeine, which some people notice a difference. I think we've talked about this before between caffeine and hydrous, which is like the synthetic caffeine and natural caffeine. There's kind of a different field it just doesn't hit as hard, I feel like.

John:
It doesn't hit as hard, but I found it to be a little bit smoother and less crazy feeling.

Brad:
Yeah. Yeah. It's just not so much of a punch, which is really, really good, I feel like. I mean, it just depends on what you're doing.

John:
I don't know about you, but for me, 200 milligrams is kind of a perfect. Bangs are a little bit [crosstalk 00:02:40] too more than I need a little bit of 10. So I think the 200 milligrams at this and a 3D energy have it, is just about perfect.

Brad:
Yeah. And I've dranken probably thousands of energy drinks now, I can't really do a lot of the 300 milligrams, there's just too much, makes me feel kind of queasy. Anything, like you said, 200, 100 to 200, maybe 250, that's like perfect range for an energy drink. And a lot of the Bang flavors just makes me feel sick now, I'm so used to them all.

John:
You know what I just noticed? So this one has five calories, and not to knock the zero-calorie energy drinks, but, personally, even if it's only five, ten, 20 calories, the ones that have a little bit of calories in there, I find it tastes better than the ones that are zero-calorie.

Brad:
And even with the five calories, you have to think the energy you're going to get and the fidgeting you're going to do and the way you're going to be shaking from the caffeine, from the stimulus, you're going to burn off that calorie. Most five calories very, very easily, it's a non-issue.

John:
I think what a Tic Tac [crosstalk 00:03:35] is what you find relevant or something like that.

Brad:
Wow, Tic Tac and Tic Toc are one letter off, never compared them. Well, yeah, let's try it. Have you tried it, this one?

John:
I have not.

Brad:
Neither have I. I really liked the red one.

John:
I mean the red is spot on, so I imagine this is going to be good.

Brad:
Yeah. And there's really no artificial colors or anything, it's just kind of like a beige-ish. Cheers.

John:
Yeah. It smells exactly like [crosstalk 00:04:09] Sour Patch Kids.

Brad:
Off the get-go, it's so heavy right here, with how sweet it is, but the flavor is really, really good.

John:
You know what the, I'm not knocking because I really do like it, but the scent of it is a lot more powerful than the actual flavor.

Brad:
To be honest, if I had my eyes closed and you gave me the red one and the blue one, I don't know if I'd be able to [crosstalk 00:04:40] differentiate because the smell smells exactly like the red one.

John:
Well then, I think Sour Patch Kids had that very distinctive...

Brad:
To me, it smells like Swedish Fish.

John:
I can see that.

Brad:
So the red one smells exactly like it, and I smelt it again in here.

John:
I think one of these days we'll have to do a side by side of these two.

Brad:
It's a good. I feel like this one's a little more tart than the other one, but it's not tart, it's just more on the...

John:
It is really sweet.

Brad:
You know what I'm saying? I don't hate it. I thought I wanted to because Jeff likes it so much, and I wanted to be contrarian, but it is pretty good.

John:
So, Jeff, another guy who we work with, has actually been shopping competitors just to get this drink.

Brad:
We're barely keeping the lights on because...

John:
But yeah, he's been on us to get this drink in for a few months. So, a lot of people around here really love it. I can see myself grabbing one of these. I think I still might gravitate towards the red, but this is very good.

Brad:
I normally don't like, I don't like blue raspberry, blue anything like that, it's just always such like a sickeningly sweet, fake. I actually liked, I mean, obviously sour patch is not a natural flavor, by any means, but I don't really like blue raspberry and this one is good.

John:
You were doing it when I was a kid and I'd go to the movies with my friends. I'd eat some of these Sour Patch Kids, all the skin would fall in he roof of my mouth. [crosstalk 00:05:53]

Brad:
It's all the [inaudible 00:05:56] so it just eat away at it. Yeah. I actually like this quite a bit.

John:
Everyone out there's going to be mad, if you don't leave any for them.

Brad:
Don't tell them. All right, so we now have the blue raspberry, the red...

John:
[inaudible 00:06:13] "We have the blue."

Brad:
I got a burp, I swallowed that way too fast. We've got the blue raspberry, the red Sour Patch Kid one, mango and citrus?

John:
Yeah.

Brad:
Yeah. So we've gotten those four right now, as they come out and as it come available to us, they're not always available to us first, but once they are get them in, as soon as we can, pick up a case, they're not that expensive. Or if you're in the Chicago land area, stop by Capital Nutrition in Mokena, Illinois; Orland Park, Illinois; Schererville, Indiana. Stop by Supplement Warehouse in Bolingbroke, Illinois, or West Allis, Wisconsin. Pick them up, we'll have them at all of the stores by the end of next week.

John:
That's a good point for anyone who is in Chicago. I know a lot of times people don't want to commit to a 12 case, or people just like trying different flavors. Pretty much all our stores and all the coolers. We have some really unique energy drinks. We have the Joe Rogan CBD drinks.

Brad:
Bird Brain.

John:
Bird Brain.

Brad:
Yeah. You're not going to see that really anywhere.

John:
Raze.

Brad:
Yeah.

John:
Alani Nus. I mean, huge [inaudible 00:07:13]. If you guys are fans of energy drinks, definitely [crosstalk 00:07:15] try one of those.

Brad:
We have a ton of them, that's what people are saying. Anytime they go to our energy drinks, they're like, "Wow!". It's pretty wide selection. It's almost like a gas station, with how many different energy drinks that we have. But yeah, if you guys want to see us do any other energy drink reviews or think we should bring in any other brands, please leave a comment down below and we will see if we can bring it in, and we'll definitely get back to you.

John:
Or if you're an energy drink brand, we always like samples.

Brad:
We love samples. All right. Thanks guys.

John:
Later guys.
