Maddie:
So am I.

John:
I've seen them at Target before. What these are, these are, people talk about functional foods, foods that have some benefit. These are soda pops, supposed to remind you of some of your favorite sodas from childhood. They got root beer, orange soda, grape soda.

Maddie:
Yeah.

John:
But the added benefit here, these have 9 grams of fiber in them, which I think is a fair bit of your daily allotment of fiber. I know a lot of people around the office here take fiber supplements. Do you?

Maddie:
I used to, yeah.

John:
You used to?

Maddie:
Yeah.

John:
Brad got us all hooked on fiber, which is really good for your digestive health.

Maddie:
Yeah, yeah.

John:
Ghost poops. You're never bloated. It's amazing.

Maddie:
Yes.

John:
One thing that was actually pretty impressive, so we've been using a new app. It called Yuka or Yuka, and basically what it is, you can scan a product, a food, a barcode, and it'll give you a rating on the product. Now, a lot of food, toothpaste, things that I thought were healthy.

Maddie:
Were not.

John:
Everything's scoring bad, has all types of chemicals and sweeteners and preservatives that have negative health benefits. I happened to scan OLIPOP. This is called Y-U-K-A, I believe it's called. I don't know if that's going to show up on camera.

John:
This is the first product we've actually found that has a good rating. It's in the green. There are no toxic or harmful substances, got a 69 out of 100 score, and just some basic information about it. Three grams of sugar, no saturated fat, only 25 milligrams of sodium, 9 grams of fiber, which is about what you'll get from a fiber supplement, which is pretty impressive in soda, and just 35 calories.

John:
I know, we always think that drinks with a little bit of calories tastes better than the ones without. I think this is a good way to enjoy a tasty beverage and a also get your daily allotment of fiber.

Maddie:
Yeah. Which one you want to try first?

John:
We got a bunch of stuff to try here. What do you want to try?

Maddie:
Should we just go down the line?

John:
Okay. Let's go down the line. Let's start with the root beer.

Maddie:
Root beer?

John:
Root beer.

Maddie:
All right.

John:
I'm curious to see if these are like sparkling waters or if it's actually... Oh, it actually looks like a soda.

Maddie:
It's dark. It smells like root beer.

John:
Do you remember? I think we were in the same school district. Do you remember in middle school lunches they used to have the root beer flavored soda or sparkling waters?

Maddie:
Yeah.

John:
I expected it be like that, but this looks a-

Maddie:
True root beer.

John:
It tastes exactly like root beer.

Maddie:
Yeah. It smells.

John:
It smells, yeah.

Maddie:
It's not as strong as it tastes as regular root beer soda, but that root beer flavor is still there.

John:
It's a little bit flat, or just less carbonated.

Maddie:
Yeah.

John:
At first, it threw me off because it's a very mild taste.

Maddie:
Right.

John:
But I probably haven't drank a soda in years.

Maddie:
Me neither.

John:
I drink sparkling water exclusively. I think you do too?

Maddie:
Yeah, me too.

John:
This is actually kind of refreshing. It's not syrupy.

Maddie:
Mm-hmm (affirmative), and it's better for you.

John:
It's basically like a diet root beer.

Maddie:
Yeah, so if you're missing your pop craving, try one of these.

John:
I think they're pretty good. These have what? Prebiotics, botanicals and plant fiber. Here's what the botanicals are. We got some Himalayan pink salt. Looks like it's sweetened with Stevia. Marshmallow root, that's really good for digestion, and also acid reflux and things like that. Calendula flour, nopal cactus, I like those, artichoke, chicory root.

Maddie:
It's vegan friendly.

John:
Cassava root and carbonated water. You know what I kind of like? When you look at the labels, sometimes and you hear all these crazy chemicals you've never heard of?

Maddie:
Yeah.

John:
This is all real things that exist in nature, which I assume is why it has a good rating. What's this?

Maddie:
Orange Squeeze.

John:
How do you feel about orange soda?

Maddie:
I like orange soda.

John:
You know, honestly, I'm not a fan of that one.

Maddie:
Mean neither.

John:
What's that taste? It's like turmeric or something like that.

Maddie:
Yeah. There's a weird aftertaste to it. It's like sour orange juice.

John:
Yeah. I can see that.

Maddie:
I still like the root beer better.

John:
Yeah, root beer by far the best so far.

Maddie:
Classic Grape. Do you like grape soda?

John:
Every now and again.

Maddie:
Yeah.

John:
I think this one will taste good. Grape is pretty good at covering up-

Maddie:
Different tastes. It's a pretty color. Kind of smells like medicine. It reminds me of grape Motrin.

John:
Grape Motrin?

Maddie:
Yeah.

John:
You know, I kind of like it.

Maddie:
Really?

John:
Reminds me of like a grape posh or something like that.

Maddie:
Yeah.

John:
Oh, it's not bad.

Maddie:
I'm not a fan of that one.

John:
It's got a familiar taste. It's like a certain candy or something like that. You like grape fruits snacks? That's what, grape fruits snacks.

Maddie:
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

John:
Okay. I'm still going to say root beer is the best flavor.

Maddie:
Oh, yeah. This is Vintage Cola. Okay. I love Coke.

John:
Are you a Coke or Pepsi person?

Maddie:
Coke, all the way.

John:
Do you drink Coke regularly?

Maddie:
No.

John:
You really loaded me up here?

Maddie:
Sorry. I don't drink Coke regularly.

John:
How would you feel about a whiskey and OLI?

Maddie:
Oh, that might not be bad.

John:
Right?

Maddie:
Oh.

John:
Yeah. Honestly, that's probably, I like the root beer better, but this is probably the closest to the real thing.

Maddie:
Yes. Oh, yeah. I like that.

John:
I think the taste we're picking up, a lot of these botanicals in here, obviously herbs and things like that, have a strong taste.

Maddie:
So, it's probably that?

John:
I think maybe certain flavors don't cover it up as much as-

Maddie:
Like the orange one?

John:
Yeah. Like a Diet Rite.

Maddie:
Mm-hmm (affirmative).

John:
Or a Diet RC Cola or something like that.

Maddie:
Oh, yeah. Those are good. That's good. I like that one the best so far. What's next? Tropical Punch.

John:
These are good. I will say it's fair to say, don't expect to be drinking an A&W Root Beer.

Maddie:
Right.

John:
I mean, this is a functional food. It doesn't have a lot of the... Even when it comes to pre-workouts.

Maddie:
Yeah.

John:
A lot of people are looking for something more natural and then they try it and they're like, "Yeah. Chemicals taste pretty good." You are going to be sacrificing flavor a little bit.

Maddie:
Yeah, and carbonation.

John:
But obviously this is a lot healthier than drinking that poison water we call soda.

Maddie:
Yeah.

John:
What's this?

Maddie:
Tropical Punch.

John:
That's kind of weird. I like it.

Maddie:
Oh, it's like a pineapple.

John:
Oh, this is the best one.

Maddie:
I love this one.

John:
That's really good.

Maddie:
It's like a little carbonated pineapple juice.

John:
Yeah. I think all these botanicals and herbs are going to go better with a fruit flavor than they are with a candy-ish kind of flavor.

Maddie:
Coke, yeah.

John:
Okay. This is the best one.

Maddie:
Oh, yeah. Totally agree.

John:
We're having a lot of fiber here. Might be a fight for the bathroom.

Maddie:
I hope not. Knock you out for it. Strawberry Vanilla. Oh, it looks like a rose. It smells like, what does it smell like?

John:
Because you know those candies, they're swirl colors and it's cream, strawberries and cream.

Maddie:
Yes. That's what it smells like.

John:
Something like that.

Maddie:
Oh, it tastes like one too.

John:
That's pretty good.

Maddie:
Okay.

John:
Give me your top three.

Maddie:
One.

John:
What's that?

Maddie:
The Tropical Punch.

John:
Okay.

Maddie:
And then the Cola.

John:
Okay.

Maddie:
And then the root beer.

John:
See, I'm going to go Tropical Cola, root beer, regular Cola.

Maddie:
Wait, what?

John:
I'm going to go with Tropical Cola.

Maddie:
You said Tropical Cola.

John:
Did I? Okay. Tropical.

Maddie:
Okay.

John:
Root Beer.

Maddie:
And then Cola.

John:
I don't drink carbonation. I was getting ready to burp. How about the worst one?

Maddie:
Orange.

John:
Excuse me. I'm going to go same thing, orange.

Maddie:
All right, and then Grape.

John:
Yeah. Currently, this is not a product we carry as of yet, at the moment. I did see they sell these at Target. If you got a Whole Food, Fresh kind of store. Maybe a Trader Joe's, Fresh Thyme, Whole Foods, I'm guessing you could find this product there.

Maddie:
Yeah.

John:
Let everyone else in the office try it. Depending on what people think, we might be bringing this one in. Although, does this need to be... Okay, it does need to be stored refrigerated, so I don't know if we'll bring it in just for that reason because I doubt we're going to ship with cold packs.

Maddie:
Right, but it came to us without a cold pack.

John:
That's true. Yeah.

Maddie:
I think it'll be okay.

John:
Yeah. Overall, what do you think about these?

Maddie:
I think they're pretty good. I think it's a really good alternative to sada?

John:
Sapa.

Maddie:
Soda. But yeah, if you're really craving that cola or whatever, I'd say, go with one of these.

John:
You know, I always find, a lot of times I don't even really want a soda, I just wanted something sparkly.

Maddie:
Yeah, carbonation.

John:
I used to always crack a soda, drink two or three sips and I just leave it on the counter.

Maddie:
Yeah. You just need that carbonation, I feel sometimes.

John:
Since we don't have this on our website at the moment, we will link down below to OLIPOP's website. Thank you, OLIPOP for sending these out to us, was glad to give these a try, and I may wind up picking up this flavor.

Maddie:
The pineapple.

John:
At Target sometime in the future. I know me and my girlfriend drink fiber every day, so this would be a good alternative to getting it.

Maddie:
Definitely.

John:
You got anything else?

Maddie:
That's all I got.

John:
All right, guys. We will catch you on the next video.

Maddie:
See you.

John:
Later.
