These bars definitely live up to their names as they are pretty sizable. Flavors can vary, but they are all pretty good. At 31 grams of protein per bar / per serving, you are getting a protein packed treat on the go. That is more than a lot of protein powders and you dont even need a liquid to mix it with. If you like high protein and candy bars, then why not.
Crispy Apple Pie, much like the other flavours of Met-RX bars that I have tried, are REALLY good, with REALLY unique flavours. This one is most like a Granola bar, with a layer of Apple pie flavoured jam/jelly on top. Before ordering I heard them compared favourably to Quest Apple Pie, which I really like, however these are certainly different. Both are Appley, but where the Quest is more like mushed together dried Apple, this one is, as described already, like a Granola bar with an Apple jam coating. I would recommend these to a friend, however with the many MANY bars out there, these will not be a regular purchase for me. If the macros fit your diet, and you like the sound of what I have described, then these are a great choice.
Met-rx bars cater to a demographic different to the likes of Quest. They aren't 'chocolate covered' like many other protein bars, and so they tend to be quite unique. Super cookie crunch has three visible layers: a thick almost baked chocolate base, a similar, though slightly chewier (for lack of a better word) base, and covered by an Oreo-like cream top. These won't be mistaken for a mars bar, or for a brownie, or really for anything other than a protein bar, but for what they are, they are great. Recommended for those looking for a meal replacement bar.
There are MANY protein bars out there that are not worth while. For a long time it was just accepted that a protein bar was going to taste like chip board, however not it is becoming increasingly essential for a protein bar to... you know... taste good! When I first tried Toasted Chocolate Crunch it brought back memories of an Almond desert that I had when I was a kid. I really really liked this flavour, how interesting and unique it was. This is kind of Met-RX's strong point - the uniqueness of the flavours. Honestly, I prefer FortiFX bars... by a LONG shot. However these are unique, and tasty, and that brings me back to them.
Overall, this is an average bar. Like many bars out there, it has a high amount of protein, but it is also filled with bad nutrients like bad fat and lots of sugar. If you are looking to cut, this bar is definitely not for you. On the other hand, if you are bulking, this could be ok, but there are still better bars out there that have a higher protein content and less sugar. The taste is decent, but that's about it.
I agree that there are far healthier and more macro friendly bars out there, but these bars have some real winners among the flavours. I love Chocolate Toasted Almond and Cookie Crunch. They are spot on to what they are described as. They are very high calorie though, and with over 40g of carbs per bar they are suited to bulking and certainly not cutting. Overall though, they are consistently best sellers, and deservedly so. The flavours are amazing and there is a decent amount of protein in each. Recommended.
Overall, this is an average bar at best. I used it while trying to put on weight, so I would suggest taking it then. However, is you're trying to cut, I wouldn't recommend it. Like many bars, it has a lot of protein, but it also has lots of saturated fat, sugar, and carbs. If you're looking for a healthy bar, there are definitely better options out there.
These are super high calorie, but they are so so tasty. I have tried the Chocolate Toasted Almond and Chocolate Chip cookie dough flavours. I love the Almond, the cccd is a bit "meh". Grows on you, but that Chocolate Toasted Almond is DELICIOUS! Highly recommended... IF you can fit it in.
MET-Rx Big 100 Colossal Bars tastes great, has a great amount of protein. Sugars and saturated fat could be lower, but the overall combination of taste, protein amount, and nutritional values give this a higher grade, but still, it's a great on-the-go snack. FYI, Super Cookie Crunch is the best flavor. Overall, it's one of my favorite protein bars!
All these bars taste alright. They are kinda hard to chew but your supposed to drink with it and it helps. Actually feel like you at somthin afterwords. I like these when i just dont have the time to eat right. I wouldnt use it inplace of a shake.
