Primal Muscle 191XT: Does This Deer Antler Velvet IGF-1 Spray Actually Work?

If you're into supplements or have spent any time on bodybuilding forums or social media you've likely seen ads or talk about Primal Muscle 191XT. The company behind it claims it can unlock explosive muscle growth, speed up recovery and increase strength, all through deer antler velvet IGF-1 oral spray. But do studies support these claims and does the science back it up? Or is it just another overhyped muscle building supplement.

In this post we'll break down exactly what Primal Muscle is, the ingredients behind it, how it works and we'll look at available research, possible side effects and other similar supplements.

What is Primal Muscle 191XT?

Primal Muscle 191XT is an oral anabolic spray marketed towards bodybuilders, athletes and fitness enthusiasts looking to increase muscle size, improve recovery and enhance performance.

Unlike traditional testosterone boosters or prohormones, 191XT centers its formula around deer antler velvet extract, which naturally contains trace amounts of Insulin Like Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1) along with several other herbal ingredients commonly used to support nitric oxide production, testosterone, libido and blood flow.

Primal Muscle themselves promote it as an alternative to IGF-1 injections, although its important to understand an oral supplement is fundamentally different from prescription IGF-1 therapy.

What Does Primal Muscle 191XT Claim To Do

  • Lean Muscle Growth
  • Faster Workout Recovery
  • Strength Increases
  • Improved Muscle Pumps
  • Improved Blood Flow
  • Enhanced Athletic Performance
  • Reduced Post Workout Soreness
  • Increased Training Frequency

How Does Primal Muscle 191XT Work?

Rather than relying on stimulants, hormones or hormone precursors, 191XT combines ingredients that work through different pathways.

Deer Antler Velvet

This is the flagship ingredient behind 191XT. Deer antlers are one of the fastest growing tissues in the animal kingdom and the growing "velvet" contains numerous naturally occurring compounds including growth factors, collagen, amino acids, minerals and small amounts of IGF-1. The theory is these compounds may help support recovery, tissue repair, joint health and protein synthesis. That said one major point often overlooked is that scientists remain uncertain whether orally consumed IGF-1 survives digestion or is absorbed in meaningful amounts. While deer antler velvet contains IGF-1, there is currently little evidence that oral sprays significantly raise IGF-1 levels enough to produce meaningful muscle growth.

L-Arginine

Arginine is a well known nitric oxide precursor which relaxes blood vessels and increases circulation into working muscles. Potential benefits include improved pumps, improved nutrient delivery and increased endurance. Several clinical studies have shown L-Arginine can increase nitric oxide production although results for muscle growth are mixed.

Tribulus Terrestris

Tribulus has been used for decades in sports supplements and research suggests it may support libido, improve sexual wellness and there's limited data for increasing testosterone in healthy young men. Most modern studies show Tribulus does not consistently increase testosterone or muscle mass in resistance trained individuals although some users report improved training motivation and recovery.

Epimedium Extract (Horny Goat Weed)

Epimedium contains a compound called icariin, research suggests it may improve circulation, support nitric oxide production and enhance blood flow. Most evidence comes from laboratory and animal studies while human muscle building research remains limited.

Niacin (Vitamin B3)

Niacin supports healthy circulation, cellular energy metabolism, blood flow and cardiovascular health. Many users notice that classic niacin flush which can cause temporary skin warmth and redness shortly after taking Niacin.

What Does The Research Say

Some of the ingredients in 191XT have legitimate scientific support, but not necessarily for the dramatic muscle building or IGF-1 boosting claims often seen in ads. A 2021 study in resistance trained men did find that deer antler velvet supplementation reduced some markers of muscle damage following resistance exercise, however high quality human studies showing large increases in muscle mass are still lacking.

Does Primal Muscle 191XT Really Increase IGF-1?

This is probably the biggest question surrounding this product. The answer is possibly, though the evidence is weak. While deer antler velvet naturally ocntains IGF-1, scientists have not established that orally consumed IGF-1 survives digestion or enters the bloodstream in amounts capable of significantly increasing muscle growth. Organizations such as the US Military's Operation Supplement Safety note that there is no strong scientific evidence supporting the performance claims made for deer antler velvet supplements.  And anecdotally over the years we've noticed that while in years past Deer Antler Velvet supplements from Now Foods and Bucked Up were very popular, but have fallen off in popularity in recent years. This doesn't necessarily mean the product has no value. There are many users who report improved recovery, less soreness and improved training consistency, though these benefits may stem from the overall ingredient profile rather than a direct increase in circulating IGF-1.

Primal Muscle 191XT Side Effects

Most users tolerate 191XT well however possible side effects include niacin flushing, mild stomach discomfort, headaches, temporary skin warmth and possible allergic reactions.

Is Primal Muscle 191XT Worth Buying?

Primal Muscle 191XT is an interesting product. While its marketing emphasizes IGF-1, rapid muscle growth and steroid like results, the scientific support behind the formula lies in ingredients which may support recovery, circulation and performance rather than delivering pharmaceutical level anabolic effects.

The inclusion of ingredients like deer antler velvet, arginine, tribulus, epimedium and niacin creates a well rounded performance formula but the current evidence doesn't support claims that an oral spray can reliably produce the same IGF-1 driven muscle growth seen with other supplements and prescription therapies.

If you're consistent with your training, diet and recovery, 191XT may provide incremental benefits especially in workout and training quality but it doesn't match the expectations set by the marketing nor do we believe its worth the price tag of $69.

For most lifters, foundational supplements like creatine, protein powder and a quality diet will still deliver the biggest return on investment, and for those looking for an even biggest boost in recovery or muscle growth supplements like Hi-Tech Pro IGF-1 and various prohormones will likely deliver better results for the same or even less money. That said if you're curious about deer antler velvet and want to give this one a try as an experiment, Prime Muscle 191XT could be an interesting addition to a well built supplement stack and a proper training regiment and diet.
