5 Best Pre-Workouts for Pregnant Women

5 Best Pre-Workouts for Pregnant Women

One of the most common questions we field here at Best Price Nutrition, as well as in our retail shops is the question of whether Pregnant Women can take Pre-Workout Supplements, where there are any safe pre-workouts for pregnant women, and if so what pre-workout supplements would be the best fit for pregnant women.

We recently did a blog post on this topic and answered the question of whether pregnant women can take pre-workout supplements, if you didn't catch that one you can read it here. In short, most experts state pregnant women can safely take between 150mg and 300mg of caffeine without negatively affecting their pregnancy, though the American Pregnancy Association does recommend pregnant women should avoid caffeine as much as possible. We would recommend pregnant women consult with their physicians on this topic, and should you decide that you'd like to take a pre-workout supplement, we've compiled a list of The 5 Best Pre-Workouts for Pregnant Women which you can view below.

5 BEST PRE-WORKOUTS DURING PREGNANCY

Our number one pick for Pre-Workouts for pregnant women is going to be Optimum Nutrition's Amino Energy. This Pre-Workout has a lot going for it. For starters, the price point, coming in at $19.95 for a 30 serving tub this is one of the more cost effective pre-workout supplements we carry. Amino Energy is also considered a low stim or low stimulant pre-workout in that you could take a single scoop serving which is as little as 50mg of caffeine, obviously a two scoop serving is 100mg, and it can also be taken in a 4 scoop for 200mg of caffeine or a six scoop serving for 300mg of caffeine, which is the top end of what experts consider to be safe.

A couple other nice things about Optimum Nutrition's Amino Energy, are the huge selection of flavors, and the addition of Amino Acids. As far as flavors go, Amino Energy has something for every taste, currently we carry over 20 flavors of Amino Energy ranging from common flavors like Grape, Orange, Blueberry and Watermelon, to more unique flavors like Cotton Candy, Iced Caramel Machiato, Sweet Mint Tea, and more. Amino Energy also contains 5 grams of Amino Acids for added endurance and muscle recovery. For all these reasons Optimum Nutrition's Amino Energy comes in at our number one pick.

Our next pick for the top picks for pre-workouts for pregnant women is Allmax Nutrition's A:Cuts which is short for Amino Cuts. this is another amino acid formula with caffeine added. It also contains CLA and Green Coffee which add a bit of a thermogenic or fat burning component to the mix as well.

Allmax A:Cuts is another pre-workout formula that's easy on the wallet coming in at $19.99 for a 30 serving tub, so same as Amino Energy, however A:Cuts contains 127mg of Natural Caffeine making it a bit stronger than Amino Energy. Because of this many women choose to take a half scoop, essentially stretching this 30 serving tub into a 60 serving tub.

Like Amino Energy, Allmax A:Cuts also contains amino acids coming in at 4.2 grams of aminos per serving. And while A:Cuts flavor options aren't quite as extensive as Amino Energy, this one comes in 9 great fasting flavors. For these reasons this product comes in at number two for our top 5 pre-workouts for pregnant women.

Coming in at number three in the list of the top 5 pre-workouts for pregant women, we have Merica Labz Stars 'N Pipes. Merica Labz is a newer supplement brand than Optimum Nutrition or Allmax Nutrition, however they make great high quality supplements, and this one is a favorite among our customers. Stars 'N Pipes is a non-stimulant pre-workout meaning there's no caffeine, no DMHA, and no other stimulants, so pregnant women worried about stimulants can rest assured this formula contains none of them.

You may be asking what good is a pre-workout with no stims right? What's it supposed to do? While stimulant free pre-workouts don't contains stimulants, they do still provide you with additional energy and endurance. Stimulant Free Pre-Workouts, often referred to as "Pump Pre-Workouts" contain ingredients which help focus and concentration, as well as boost blood blow. That increased blood flow winds up providing most users with added energy, added endurance, and improved workouts.

Stars 'N Pipes comes in at a slightly steeper price than the previous options. Stars 'N Pipes comes in at $34.99 for a 20 serving tub and comes in six flavors including Blood Sweat and Tears, Freedom, Let's Make America Grape Again, Not Your Granny's Apple, 'Merica Made, and Cooperstown. The formula features 6,000mg of L-Citrulline, 5,000mg of HydroMax (65% Glycerol), and 5,000mg of Betaine Anhydrous.

If you're looking for a great tasting pre-workout that will provide you with added endurance and focus without the stimulants then this could be a great option for you.

Our number four option for the best pre-workout supplements for pregnant women comes from one of our top selling brands, Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals. When making this list we had a hard time ordering the products in terms of our favorites, and a good case could be made that Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals Off The Chain could be ranked number one or number two, as it's almost identical to Amino Energy and very similar to A:Cuts.

I, the writer of the article, am not a big stim-junky, so while I'm a dude and am not pregnant, nor will I ever be, Amino Energy and A:Cuts are my personal pre-workouts of choice. I recently asked a colleague who works in our retail stores for a recommendation for a similar product to Amino Energy just to try something different and mix things up and he recommended Off The Chain.

Off The Chain comes in at the same $19.95 price point for a 30 serving tub as Amino Energy and A:Cuts so easy on the wallet. It contains 5 grams of Amino Acids just like Amino Energy, however the caffeine comes in a bit higher at 160mg per one scoop serving. This works out to just slightly over a cup and a half of coffee. This one like A:Cuts could be taken in half scoop servings for pregnant women, again stretching this 30 serving tub into a 60 serving tub making it even more economical.

Off The Chain comes has 9 different flavors including more traditional options like Pink Lemonade, Blue Raspberry, Fruit Punch, and Orange, along with some more unique flavors like Sweet Tea and Rocket Pop, my personal favorite.

Last, but certainly not least, coming in at number 5 for our top pre-workout choices for pregnant women is Condense by Purus Labs. Of all the pre-workouts we've reviewed in this post this one comes in with the highest caffeine content at 200mg of caffeine per one scoop serving, however that's still in the range of what experts consider to be safe.

In addition to the 200mg of caffeine this formula also contains chloride, sodium, and potassium, along with some betaine anhydrous, beta alanine, and some betaine nitrate. This one also lacks creatine which is an ingredient many pregnant women prefer to avoid. You'll also like that this one contains no fillers or dyes.

Condense seems to be the strongest and the most well rounded of all these pre-workouts we've reviewed in terms of providing energy, endurance, and increased blood flow and pumps, however this one lacks the amino acids the others had. This pre-workout would likely be the best for pregnant women doing weight training or restistance training where as the others would be better options for aerobic activity or light workouts.

In Conclusion

Just to stress this again, you should consult with your physician prior to taking a pre-workout or any other supplement when pregnant. You can also present them with these options and have them review these for you as well. Click any of the above products photos and you'll be taken to a product page with the full ingredients and supplement facts.
