Hemp Yeah! Protein Powder Review & Taste Test

Hemp Yeah! Protein Powder Review & Taste Test

I'd recently been hearing about a new plant based protein powder called Hemp Yeah! Plant Protein so I decided to check it out and managed to get my hands on a few sample packets. If you're not familiar with plant proteins years ago they were pretty bad, horrible taste and even worse texture, they have however come a long way. I've actually tried a number of plant proteins which are pretty tasty and have a good texture to them, although full disclosure I typically do mix them with berries, peanut butter, spinach and other goodies as opposed to drinking them on their own with just milk or water.

So Hemp Yeah! Plant Protein is a plant based protein which features 20 grams of plant protein which is sourced from a blend of pea protein and hemp protein. Both pea protein and hemp protein are both complete proteins packing all 9 essential amino acids so you likely will get a full amino profile from Hemp Yeah! or at least close to it. Hemp Yeah! Protein also features 3 grams of fiber, 2 grams of Omega 3 and 6, and 160 calories per serving.

In terms of the macros Hemp Yeah! Protein is a bit higher in calories than a lot of other proteins on the market including whey proteins, blends, and even plant based proteins. It also has 8 grams of sugar which is higher than some other proteins, but we're not going to knock them for that as its still a relatively low amount of sugar, and they're using Organic Coconut Sugar and not artificial sweeteners like Sucralose, Aspartame or Acesulfame Potassium which personally I prefer to avoid so props to Hemp Yeah! for that. Hemp Yeah! Protein also uses all natural sweeteners which we also love to see.

But how does it taste you wanna know? While I don't mind plant based proteins, I will say you oftentimes sacrafice in the areas of taste and texture for a plant based protein, however I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed Hemp Yeah! Protein. I tried all three flavors the Chocolate, the Vanilla and the Unflavored. The Chocolate and Vanilla I tried on their own. The chocolate Hemp Yeah wasn't bad but I also wasn't a huge fan of it either. The taste was decent, texture was a bit grainy but again that's to be expected with a plant based protein. The vanilla I also had on it's own with water and coconut milk, both tasted great though my favorite was mixing it with strawberry and banana. The unflavored I didn't have on it's own but did mix it in a couple smoothies with banana, strawberry, spinach and a bit of peanut butter and it was also quiet tasty.

Overall Hemp Yeah! Protein had a decent taste, though personally I'll probably continue to mix it with fruits and veggies over taking it alone, that's just how I use plant proteins. The texture was again a little grainy like you expect from a plant based protein but pretty smooth and enjoyable and the mixability was great, it mixed up wonderfully both plain in water and coconut milk as well as in a fruit and veggie smoothie. And while I don't have a sensitive stomach, I've heard from those who do have sensitive stomachs as well as those who struggle to digest whey proteins that Hemp Yeah! is easy on the stomach as well.

Overall if you're looking for a decent tasting plant based protein with a full amino profile, good texture you'll enjoy Hemp Yeah! Protein Powder. For me the biggest selling point about Hemp Yeah! is that it doesn't contain artificial flavors or sweeteners which is tough to find these days. If you're looking for a more natural plant based protein I'd definitely recommend grabbing a tub of Hemp Yeah! Protein Powder. While we don't currently carry Hemp Yeah! Plant Protein we do carry a couple hemp based protein powders; checkout Body Nutrition Plenti Plants or Ancient Nutrition Plant Protein+ which contains Hemp Seed Protein along with Watermelon Seed, Pumpkin Seed, Chia Seed and a host of other protein sources.
