5 Cheap Pre-Workouts to Add to Your Supplement Shelf
5 Cheap Pre-Workouts

A popular topic and commonly asked question on fitness forums and Reddit is a question from those looking for a budget friendly pre-workout, a cheap pre-workout that won't break the bank. 2020 was a rough year, and 2021 isn't off to a much better start. We understand times are tough, so we've put together a list of 5 great budget friendly pre-workout supplements that won't hit your wallet too hard.

We'll kick it off with my personal favorite pre-workout supplement Optimum Nutrition's Amino Energy. While Amino Energy is incredibly affordable at just $19.99 for a 30 serving tub, price point has nothing to do with my love of Amino Energy, this is just a solid pre-workout. Amino Energy is an amino/pre-workout supplement that has everything you need. It's got aminos to provide endurance, to assist with protein synthesis, and to keep you from getting sore post workout. It's got L-Arginine and Citrulline to provide a nice pump, and caffeine sourced from green tea and green coffee extract to provide you with energy. This is a versatile pre-workout as well, if you like stims you can take a full 6 scoop serving for a more intense workout, or for those who are more stim-sensitive you can take as little as 1 scoop for just 50mg or so of caffeine. Beyond being a well rounded pre-workout at a great price, Amino Energy comes in well over 20 flavors and is sure to have one to suit every taste.

Allmax Nutrition A:Cuts is next on my list. This is actually another pre-workout I flip back and forth between when mixing it up and taking something besides Optimum Nutrition's Amino Energy. A:Cuts comes in at the same price as Amino Energy at just $19.99 for a 30 serving tub. This pre-workout is actually somewhat of a hybrid in that it contains aminos, caffeine for energy, as well as CLA for thermogenesis and fat burning. A:Cuts like Amino Energy is also quite versatile and can be taken as a one scoop serving for 127mg of natural caffeine, or as a two scoop serving for a little over 250mg of caffeine. A:Cuts is sugar free, and while it doesn't have quite as many flavors to choose from, there are 9 tasty flavors to choose from.

Okay, so coming in at number three, this isn't a powdered pre-workout, and it's not a pre-workout in the traditional sense of having ingredients for energy, focus, and pumps. That said we get a lot of customers coming into our retail stores who are looking for some energy to power through those gym sessions after work, but they don't necessarily need a full fledged pre-workout, and SNS Caffeine 501 fits the bill. This is well over a year's worth of caffeine for even the stim tolerante, and if you only need one capsule, this will likely last you upwards of two years. SNS Caffeine 501 is a straight up caffeine supplement in capsule form, and gets its name from the 501 capsules in each tub, with each capsule containing 200mg of caffeine. 200mg of caffeine is a pretty healthy dose and equivalent to a lot of pre-workouts on the market, those who like stims can take two capsules for 400mg of caffeine. You're not going to get any pumps or additional muscle endurance from ingredients like beta alanine, but if all you're looking for is energy you can go wrong with SNS Caffeine 501. You can't beat the price either at just $26.99 per tub of 501 capsules.

Universal Nutrition has been a staple in the supplement and fitness space for going on almost 40 years, and their spin-off brand Animal puts out some great supplements as well. Animal Fury is actually somewhat similar to the previous two as Animal Fury also contains BCAAs, along with a hefty dose of beta alanine for added muscle endurance, 6,000mg of Citrulline which is sure to give you a nice pump, 1,000mg of Tyrosine for focus, and a fairly hefty dose of caffeine at 350mg per scoop. For those who like stims, Animal Fury isn't going to be over the top, but will provide a good amount of energy. Animal Fury comes in a 20 serving tub for just $23.95 and is available in two flavors including Green Apple and Watermelon. If you're looking for convenience and don't mind shelling out a couple extra bucks, we recently got in Animal Fury Stick Packs which is the same great pre-workout, but which comes in 20 convenient easy to use stick packs. These run a few bucks extra at $29.95 per 20 stick box.

CTD Labs Noxipro 40 Servings

$27.99

Last but certainly not least is CTD Sports NoxiPro Pre-Workout. NoxiPro is a well rounded pre-workout packing ingredients like beta alanine and arginine for pumps, creatine for muscle building, and caffeine and yohimbine for energy. NoxiPro does contain a propriety blend so we don't know exactly the dosages in here, however having tried it, I was happy with the effects and nothing feels underdosed. NoxiPro comes in three tasty flavors including Cherry Limeade, Fruit Punch, and Blue Raspberry Lemonade, and while it's a couple bucks more than some of the previous options we've mentoined at $27.99 per tub, you are getting 40 servings per tub.
