Optimum Gold Whey Standard Whey Reviews
Tastes great and mixes easily with a spoon. A lot of protein without all the fat and cholesterol.
This product seems to be worth its weight in gold. I take it three times a day and mostly love the fact that it has Glutamine in it s my muscles stay nicely fed... Wheather mixed with water or milk it still taste good. Although the name"double rich choc." doesn't quite suit it. It's a bit weak in the choc. flavor dept. but is overall the best protein Ive taken for the price--- No more GNC proteins, Id rather get more for my $$$$.
This Protein unlike most others actually dissolves into your shakes. much nicer than others

Q: Gold standard whey protein side effects?
A: There are 2 cases where on would want to avoid Gold Standard Whey due to side effect(s).
1) If are allergic to whey. Please note bovine milk allergy which includes both whey and casein proteins only affects ~0.1–0.5% of the adult population
2) If you are lactose intolerant there is a small amount of lactose in Gold Standard whey in which case you can choose a whey protein isolate where the lactose is filtered out.
For more info on whey we have a video covering it in depth. Whey Protein Isolate vs. Concentrate vs. Hydrolysate //www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4jknqocpjQ
Q: When should I use it?
A: Gold Standard whey can be used anytime you need protein. Since whey protein is easily digested and provides a great, BCAA rich amino acid profile many use it around workouts (shortly before and/or after).
Q: What does it do?
A: First and foremost whey protein is one of the best proteins available for building muscle. It is the very rich in muscle building BCAAs (~24%). In addition to the great amino acid profile whey is also anti-carcinogenic, immune enhancing, and anti-microbial.
Q: How do I mix it? What can I mix it with?
A: There are a few ways you can mix Optimum Nutrition 100% Gold Standard Whey and you can mix it in water, almond milk, or milk depending upon your preference in terms of taste, texture, and desired calorie content (milk and almond milk add calories). Also it can be mixed in a smoothie w/ your favorite fruit and/or vegetable. How much liquid you use is based on your texture preference. It can be mixed with a spoon in a glass or a shaker cup.
Q: How much should I take?
A: For individuals looking to build/maintain muscle shoot for 0.85-1.25g of protein per pound of goal bodyweight (1.87-2.75g protein/kg/goal bodyweight). Please note this includes protein intake from other sources in addition to ON Gold Standard Whey. For instance if one’s goal bodyweight is 175 lbs (80kg) and one is getting 120g from other sources then one would want 55g from whey protein to reach aforementioned goals.
Q: How many scoops per bottle?

Q: Will it make me fat?
A: Whether or not one gains weight is based on total caloric intake relative to activity level. If your caloric intake exceeds the number calories burned then you gain weight. All of that being said a protein powder w/ very little carbohydrates and fat is not likely to make one fat. This is for 2 reasons first protein has the highest Thermic Effect of Food (TEF) amongst the three macronutrients. This means that after digestion one only gets ~75% of the calories from protein or 3/4 of calories per gram. Second protein is also the most filling macronutrient so the odds if it being the big contributor to a caloric surplus is minimal.
Q: Will it help me gain weight?
A: Yes however it is generally not thought of as a weight gainer due it being low in carbohydrates and fat. That being said if your caloric intake from other sources is high this can certainly be part of a weight gaining diet.
Q: What is the best flavor?
A: Based on sales data the chocolate is the best seller. For those looking to make fruit smoothies we recommend vanilla.
Q: Is it Gluten free?
A: According to Optimum Nutrition the only flavor that does contain gluten is the Gold Standard Cookies n' Cream flavor as the cookie pieces contain gluten. In regards to other flavors
they state that they do not add gluten to Gold Standard Whey. That being said they cannot
say with 100% certainty that all of the other flavors are gluten-free. Optimum Nutrition uses
the same equipment to make products with and without gluten. Please note Optimum Nutrition cleans the equipment in-between runs however trace amounts of gluten may remain.
Q: Is it Lactose free?
A: ON Gold Standard whey is not 100% lactose free, however it is low in lactose. Also ON adds lactase to it which is the enzyme that breaks down lactose.
Q: Does it have caffeine?
A: Gold Standard 100% Whey Protein is caffeine free.
Q: Is it from plants or animals?
A: The protein in Gold Standard is whey protein. Whey protein is one of the two proteins in mammalian milk. In this case it is from bovine milk. Therefore if one is a vegan ON Gold Standard Whey is not suitable as it is an animal sourced product. This is a good supplement for Lacto-vegetarians.
Q: Does it contain any artificial ingredients/sweeteners/flavors?
A: There are two versions of ON Gold Standard Whey. The Natural 100% Whey Gold Standard version contains no artificial sweeteners, flavors, or colors. It is sweetened with evaporated cane juice powder, natural flavors, and stevia (rebaudioside A). The original version is sweetened w/ natural & artificial flavors, and acesulfame potassium.
Q: Does it contain Aspartame?
Q: Is it Kosher?
Q: Is this Vegan/Vegetarian friendly?
A: No animals are slaughtered to get whey protein as it is from bovine milk. It is an animal based protein so it is not in line with a vegan diet. For vegetarians it depends whether or not one is a lacto-vegetarian or not.
Q: Can this help with weight loss?
A: In the context of a caloric deficit Gold Standard 100% Whey Protein can help with weight loss. In fact research demonstrates that nutrient dense; protein rich diets are superior for bone health, muscle growth, maintaining muscle tissue, and fat loss. In addition to being essential protein is the most satiating macronutrient with the highest thermic effect so it makes dieting easier and more effective.
Q: How many servings should I take per day?
A: Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey Protein can be used to supplement one’s protein needs. The more protein on gets in from other sources the less servings one will need from Gold Standard Whey. Also one’s bodyweight will determine how much protein they need per day.

Me gusta muchísimo su sabor, no tengo ningún problema tomándolo solo con agua y menearlo
Great taste easy to mix and doesn't upset the gut
What I like is it mixes and tastes great with just water. Before and after workout I can download a lot of protein without bloat or being full. In the morning I blend it with 3 bananas, blueberries, protein yogurt, ice and water.
I’ve been taking it for a week and I absolutely love it. Mixed with milk it blows all other protein powders out of the water when it comes to taste and how well it mixes.
I'm not an athlete--I bought this protein powder as an adjunct to my diet to keep me satisfied. I read many reviews and the Extreme Milk Chocolate kept coming up as the best tasting protein powder out there. They weren't wrong--I love this stuff. It's absolutely like drinking a chocolate shake. And it does help me feel full longer. Highly recommend.
Some buddies give me **** for still using this protein, but I like. Tastes good. I have only seen good results from taking it. And the price isn't bad either. Continue to get on me about it...don't care...
This was the first protein I have tried and much better than I thought it would taste. Still getting used to it, but mixes well!
Been using optimum since I started lifting. Still the best protein around. Know what to expect. No surprises. Mix it up in my blender bottle, take it down...no problems!
Good protein. Tastes really good. Mixes well too.
Been using Optimum whey for about 5 years now. I have had to try all the flavors. Love every one. I have build my physique from 155lbs to 190lbs in those 5 years and I thank Optimum for helping me reach where I am at today. Best protein powder hands down.
This is one of the better values for what you get on the market when it comes to whey protein. Protein is an essential dietary supplement when you're recovering from any workout. The nice thing about this blend is that with lecithin, which makes everything quite smooth, however this is a soy element, which some people may not find very favorable. The more tasty and enjoyable the whey blend, the better, because you are more likely to stick with it. If you can't afford plant-based blends, I would definitely say that this brand of whey is a go-to for dietary supplementation of protein.
My go to whey protein. I choose this brand because of their attention to quality ingredients, and of course the great taste. Extreme chocolate milk is my favorite flavor and it tastes great with water, milk, almond milk, anything I've tried with it really. It mixes very well and does not foam up like some of the other protein shakes. I have two shakes per day, and along with protein sources from solid foods, the macros help me get in all the protein I need. The BCAAs and glutamine are of course a great added benefit. Highly recommended and have not tried a bad flavor yet!
Got the strawberry flavor for Christmas for Christmas. Taste great and sweat not really a real strawberry flavor, but in a sense even better. Mix it with water or milk and it taste good regardless. Mixes well with both. Saw good strength gains while consuming this powder. A protein powder always supplements a diet where muscle building is the goal. This protein powder has complete protein with a good biological value and is thus well utilized by the body. ON's Gold Standard is good when it comes to quality. As with most protein powders there are some artificial ingredients in here. Artificial sweeteners for one is a double edged sword because it helps limit calories, but can confuse the body and irritate it. I myself has never had any issues with sweeteners, but some are more sensitive than others. All in all a good product which would be a product I could recommend.
I'll start out buy saying that im currently using this product and dont plan on changing to another whey anytime soon. The mixability is awesome, ive had no problems in any of the tubs i've bought. The taste is great, i usually do the chocolate, which is the best ive ever tried. I use this product to build muscle and to make gains in the gym. In which i have accomplished both. So overall, i recommend Optimum Nutrition whey to anyone who is serious about working out and making gains.
First, i will start by saying that this product mixed very well. Secondly the taste is very good. I recommend the chocolate. Overall i chose this product to help me build muscle and make gains in the weightroom. In which it did both. I highly recommend this product to anyone trying to find a good whey protein.
I feel like almost everyone has at least tried or has taken Why Protien Gold Standard. This was one of my buddies favorite protein and quickly got me hooked on it. The mixability is good and the chocolate, chocolate mint, and cappuccino are great tasting flavors. This is great quality protein for the price. I truly felt that it deff helped me put on size and keep gains with a balanced diet.
I think Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey is a great product. It's reasonably priced (especially when you go for the bigger tubs), tastes great, mixes perfectly with just a spoon, and has a good macronutrient profile. I've only tried the Mocha Cappuccino and Cake Donut flavors so far, but I've been very impressed with both. A lot of protein powders don't taste like what their flavors claim to be, but that hasn't been the case with the two I've tried. The Mocha Cappuccino tastes just like a coffee house drink and is even better with some instant coffee granules blended in. You'll probably want to use a blender for that though to break up the granules. The cake donut also tastes just like a cake donut. I was very impressed. I would definitely recommend this product and look forward to trying out the other flavors.
I originally bought this Whey Protein product because it was on sale, but I haven't used anything since. The stuff works. It tastes great, (I use chocolate), it mixes well and easily, and its heavy enough to make you feel full, but not too heavy as to make you waste the rest of your day. Great product, worth a try for sure.
This product is not only delicious, but it's well priced! I just got the cookies and cream and it's sooo good! I like the double chocolate and vanilla as well. I find it tastes best with almond milk rather than water. It's a staple in our stacks for me and my husband!
It is good to be cautious when buying protein powders as many have been caught overstating their protein contents. ON is a reputable company however, and it is pretty safe to trust them. The flavours of their Whey are decent (nothing special, but no complaints), and it is a great way to increase your protein count. Do yourself a favour though and use it for what it is, a supplement to achieve your target protein levels for the day. Just randomly having it after a workout is out of context and a waste of money. Get on it and be informed.
