Portal Sleep Supplement Product Overview

Video Transcription:

John:

What's happening, guys? John and Jeff here with Best Price Nutrition. You can visit the website at bestpricenutrition.com. In today's video, we're going to be talking about an all new supplement we just got in today. Been anxious to get this one in and I think I might give it a try tonight. I've been wanting to try this one.

Jeff:

This one's been trending a lot.

John:

Yeah, trending online, social media.

Jeff:

People have been asking about it. And anything sleep, we love bringing in because everybody cares about it. But yeah, you first noticed this, you got some questions about it, and then you like the formula and wanted to bring it in.

John:

Yeah. So one of my favorite sleep supplements is Somatomax, but Somatomax is probably something you only want to take once or twice a week.

Jeff:

That's very strong, yes.

John:

So I'm always looking for other things to take for sleep. Personally, I don't like melatonin. We were talking before the video. The creator of synthetic melatonin, I actually said it right, actually advised people not to take it. And even if you are going to take melatonin, I feel like most of the products out there are like four to five times the dosage that they probably should be.

Jeff:

Yeah, it's like 10, 15 grams [inaudible 00:01:04].

John:

It should be like one, two, maybe three milligrams. So I like that this one, it lacks melatonin, says it's not habit-forming, and it has a pretty effective but small ingredient panel. And the other thing I like about this, they use Stevia for sweetener, natural flavors and annatto seed powder, so a natural coloring as well.

Jeff:

Exactly.

John:

So if you're looking for more natural products, that's another thing this one has going for it.

Jeff:

And I love that it's a powder form. If you're like me, I like to drink something before I go to sleep. And the chamomile, I think it's flavored. And you like the yuzu.

John:

Yuzu. I love yuzu, yeah.

Jeff:

And some cool things about this as we go through the formula, some of these ingredients can help, especially with hot sleepers like myself. My wife's always like, "Oh, you're so hot. Move over." Or people that have anxiety issues before they go to sleep, this can help as well.

John:

I noticed is has magnesium. I take magnesium, even if I'm not taking a sleep formula, I take it every night before bed.

Jeff:

It's so good for you.

John:

If you've got the restless leg thing going on, it tends to help with that. And also just helps to relax you before bed as well.

Jeff:

Yeah, exactly. So let's go through the ingredients. We kind of talked about, the first one we just said was magnesium is one of the main ingredients in here. And this has got a lot of studies out there. It helps with insomnia, helps regulate neurotransmitters, help your brain kind of calm down and relax you. It does play a crucial role in creating natural melatonin as well.

For us lifters out there, it does also help you kind of relax the muscle fibers, get rid of that physical tension, especially if you work out at night like myself. And overall it's going to help you just, like I said, relax, it's going to regulate your sleep time. It does so much stuff for sleep and why it's so important.

John:

Another great thing, kind of like vitamin D, I think magnesium is another mineral that most people are deficient in. The next ingredient... By the way, for the magnesium, we had 282 milligrams.

Jeff:

Exactly. Yep.

John:

Next we have glycine, two grams. Glycine helps lower your body temperature, which you alluded to. Signals your body that it's time to go to sleep. Great for hot sleepers. Helps to regulate sleep and wake patterns, increases serotonin levels, which converts to melatonin, so similar to magnesium. Reduces the time that it takes to get to sleep, reduces the symptoms of sleeping disorders, reduces sleep disturbances, and reduces daytime sleepiness.

Jeff:

A lot of benefits. The big thing I like there also, as we mentioned, the hot sleeping, but the sleep disturbances a lot. In the past, I think I've ran into problems where I'll wake up like 4 or 5 times a night and that just messes up your sleep. So anything that helps keep you to sleep is a good thing in my eyes.

And did we say how many grams?

John:

Two grams.

Jeff:

Two grams.

John:

Okay. So then we got 400 grams of L-theanine. L-theanine is a very popular sleep type of product because it increases GABA levels. It also increases serotonin, dopamine, all these things that are really good in the brain to help you relax, help regulate your mood, help you to just get to sleep. So that's why it makes you fall asleep faster.

Other things it helps with is anxiety. Of course if you have sleep anxiety, this is a great product to take. There's been studies to show it enhances your sleep quality, which is also good. And the big thing about L-theanine, which I liked, is that it doesn't give you that kind of groggy feeling in the morning. I know probably in the past I've taken maybe a heavier dose of melatonin than I should, and it's so hard to wake up. You feel like garbage in the morning. So L-theanine is going to help reduce that feeling, which is great.

A lot of times, even if I'm not taking a sleep supplement, I will take the Life Extension L-theanine with my magnesium before bed. A lot of you guys might be familiar with it. It's become a popular ingredient in pre-workouts to kind of mellow out some of the stimulants. But also with the helping with anxiety, if you're somebody who has a racing mind before you go to bed, L-theanine kind of helps with that. So that's also kind of part of my sleep regimen already.

And then lastly, we have apigenin, which comes from chamomile flower extract, helps lower stress hormones, helps to power down your brain, so probably also with the racing mind before you sleep. And the reason why people associate chamomile... I can't say that word.

Jeff:

Chamomile.

John:

Chamomile tea with sleep.

Jeff:

Yeah, exactly. I think you ever go any place and oh, you need some help, they give you the chamomile tea, which is good. So that's the flavor in here.

So overall, just a really good solid supplement. I like that they are very transparent on all the ingredients in here. This is a new product to us, but from the feedback we've looked at on their site and some other third parties, people love the taste of it. They love how it makes them feel at night getting to sleep, and they love how to wake up in the morning as well.

John:

And I know among our customers a lot of Somatomax lovers, so if you're looking for something to take in between, or during... I know some people only take Somatomax on the weekend. So you're looking for something on the nights that you don't take some Somatomax, this could be a good option.

Jeff:

Great everyday option. And you don't have to be lifting to take this product. It does help, but if you're just a person that you want to get better nights sleep in the crazy lives that we all live, definitely you should give this Portal product a try. And if you've had it before, let us know how it's worked for you.

How do we take this? Do we have a instruction?

John:

One scoop in a cup of water 30 minutes before bedtime.

Jeff:

Okay, so there you go. So yeah, so not bad at all. And there's 30 servings, so hey, you take it every night for a month, you got a full bottle, a months worth here. But yeah, I think we went through everything on this product.

John:

Yeah, we've just got it up on the site. So we'll link to it down below.

Jeff:

Exactly. And again, if you've taken it before, post it down below, let us know what you think. If you've got questions about it or any of these compounds within it, post them here.
